About Phavian
Phavian teaches Piano and Flute. He holds a Bachelor of Music Performance, a Master of Teaching, and is Victorian Institute of Teaching registered. Currently, he works as instrumental music coordinator and piano teacher at St Joseph’s Primary School Malvern. Phavian is not only well versed in his instruments but also a qualified teacher. His teaching philosophy focuses on improvisation and exploration starting with the young beginner for piano.
Born and raised in Melbourne, Phavian is a piano and flute teacher who loves to teach all ages and especially young beginners to piano.
Growing up, Phavian always enjoyed playing, practicing and discovering music. For him, the most exciting moment is when you hear something new, something amazing and you just want to learn how to do THAT. This is where his love of music just continued to grow and grow.
He first learnt the violin with the Suzuki method as a very young child, before switching to piano as he got older, then also learning the flute through secondary school. Then as if that wasn’t enough also deciding on picking up guitar whilst at university!
He completed a Bachelor of Music Performance at Monash University in 2014, then continued his educational study completing a Master of Teaching in 2016. After this he moved to the UK to live and work at various schools as the music teacher around London and returned in 2019. He has now been teaching music for many years. He also holds his Associate’s Diploma in Flute.
Phavian’s studio is a cosy, welcoming environment which focuses on engaging, efficient learning of the chosen instrument. He loves to improvise and to create new music on the spot and conveys these ideas to all his students even his young beginners in piano or flute.
Once you step inside, you will immediately feel at home. Phavian doesn’t put pressure on you to learn as quickly as possible but to learn as deeply and comprehensively as you can. Most importantly of all, to inspire a love of learning and music that will carry throughout your whole life.
