Phavian’s mission is to provide comprehensive and engaging music lessons in Piano or Flute.
Phavian’s beginner music lessons are based in Glen Waverley. Lessons are individual.
For young beginner piano lessons, Phavian incorporates Whole Body Learning into lessons so that students learning is embedded within a multi-sensory approach to learning music.
How many times have we heard a student who have memorized a piece but have no idea how to read a piece? How many students who have never composed a piece? Phavian’s method puts exploration first. Students will be improvising and creating from the very first lesson.
Let Phavian guide you through your beginner piano lessons in glen Waverley!
What will students learn?
· Reading music by sight
· Improvising and creating their own music
· Technical skills and knowledge of scales and chords
· AMEB exam grade repertoire
Do you teach fundamentals and AMEB exams?
Exams are an excellent target to strive for when taking piano lessons. They offer that sense of achievement and accomplishment. These exams test fundamentals that are the basis that forms all comprehensive music lessons. So of course I teach these!
Do you teach Suzuki?
I learnt the Suzuki method when I was younger and am familiar and incorporate aspects of its methodology into my teaching.
What ages do you teach?
There’s no need to feel piano lessons as stiff or uncreative. Students as young as 4 are able to immediately begin playing and improvising in an engaging piano lesson.
If you’re an adult learner, there’s still room for you! – the benefits of learning an instrument are not lost because you’ve gotten older. Come fulfill the dream you’ve always had of playing the piano!
How much do lessons cost?
Lessons are weekly and half an hour – lessons are invoiced monthly at the start of each month.

CLASSICALLY TRAINED
As a classical musician the material is based on technique and a focus on progression. After all, the aim is to get the student performance ready as quickly as possible!
Depending on the age and ability of the student, lessons are tailored to suit the individual needs of the learner. For most students the Suzuki Series of Books is recommended a method which engrosses the learner and surrounds them with music as their ‘mother tongue’.
